Aurora, Claire E. Brown, 77, of Aurora, Illinois, went to meet her Lord on Wednesday, April 1, 1992. She was born October 14, 1914 in Pittsfield, Illinois.
Mrs. Brown attended North Central College from 1932 to 1934, and graduated from Aurora University in 1952. She taught first grade for 22 years, most of that time at McCleery School. She did substitute teaching for 15 years after retiring. She is a member of the Illinois State Parent Teachers Association and a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She has been a member of First Presbyterian of Aurora for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday School.
Survivors include her husband, Donald E. Brown, of Aurora, Illinois; two daughters, Joyce (Gary) Andrews of Aurora and Jane Claire (David Gold) Elliott, of Santa Barbara, California; two sons, Ben (Deanna) Brown, of Plano and Kent (Karen) Brown, of St. Charles; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph I. (Elizabeth ) Iftner of Pittsfield, Illinois and Robert C. (Marie) Iftner, of Harvard Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Rebecca Iftner; six brothers; three sisters and one grandson, Stephen Orland in 1970.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 6, 1991 at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Pastor Noel Allen will officiate. Interment will be in River Hills Memorial Park.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 5 p,m, and 7 to 9 p,m, at The Healy Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wayside Cross Rescue Mission, First Presbyterian Church or to Irick-Sherer, Inc.
