"Mrs. Frances V. Jaffe, 42, of 1915 Lake Terrace, was stricken ill and died early Saturday (August 29, 1959) at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel in Springfield where she was staying while visiting an aunt.

Born March 29, 1917, in Jacksonville, she was the daughter of Fred and Mabel VanHyning. She married Leonard W. Jaffe, president of the Danville Jackets Inc., who survives.

Mrs. Jaffe was a member of the Salvation Army Board and Danville Garden Club. She was a past president of the Danville Art League and the Temple Bethel Sisterhood. She had been active in the Girl Scouts and the United Community Fund.

Other survivors include her parents in Decatur; a son, William E.; and a daughter, Jane H., both at home, and a sister Mrs. James Winchester of Decatur.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Berhalter Funeral Home. The Rev. George Mehaffey will officiate, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
