Mitchell-Stilwell Nuptials --
A very novel wedding was celebrated in Redlands on Thursday eveining, when Miss Anna Laura Stilwell, of Pennsylvania, and Raymond Mitchell, of this city, were united in marriage at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. D. N. Findlay, at 902 West Fern avenue, Rev. N. D. Hynson officiating.
The wedding was a complete surprise to all of the guests, who had been invited to assist Mr. Findlay to celebrate his birthday anniversary. At half past eight Miss Carrie May, a friend of the bride, began to play the first notes of Lohengrin's Bridal Chorus. Rev. Mr. Hynson took his place and the bridal party began to advance. The ever charming ring service was used. During it, Miss May played very softly, "O Promise Me."
After the informal reception, refreshments were served at small tables. For a centerpiece on the bride's table was a beautiful decorated wedding cake.
The couple left for San Pedro yesterday, where they have their own home at 663 Eighth street. Mr. Mitchell is a member of the Marine Harware firm of San Pedro. (The San Bernardino County Sun, San Bernardino, California, Saturday, January 28, 1911, page 6)
