Haley Rae Allen, age 27, of Helena, passed away Dec. 19, 2004, as the result of a traffic accident.

Haley was born in Helena on July 16, 1977. She grew up in the Clancy area and graduated valedictorian from Jefferson High School in Boulder in 1995. Haley excelled at everything she tried — basketball, volleyball and track. She was smart, witty and shared the joys of life with her younger sister Mikel.

She attended Occidental College in California and graduated in 1999 summa cum laude with a bachelor degree in biology and a varsity letter in basketball. After graduation she worked at City of Hope, Calif., as a cancer research assistant and then spent several years in Denver first as a VISTA volunteer and then as a program director for the Mile High United Way. She dedicated much of her spare time to mentoring her little sister and she often talked about becoming an adoptive or foster parent in the future.

In the summer of 2004, she moved to Helena to be close to Brian Magee and her family — parents John and Marcia Allen. Brian and Haley were engaged shortly thereafter and she soon started planning her wedding that was to be held on July 30, 2005. She loved her new dream home that she and Brian bought up in the mountains in York, and together they spent considerable time decorating and remodeling.
She loved the outdoors, particularly the tall mountains, beautiful rivers and open spaces of Montana. She enjoyed hiking and flyfishing — all in the company of Brian and Jack (the dog). In Helena, Haley was employed at ACS as a business analyst where she was recently acknowledged for her outstanding customer service. She brought compassion and love to all that she knew and all that she did. She will be dearly missed by many friends and relatives.

Haley is survived by parents John and Marcia Allen of Clancy; sister Mikel Allen of Las Vegas; aunts and uncles: Laurie Vogel (Morrison Co. ), Bill and Tracy Huebsch (Havre ), Jim Allen (Townsend), Carolyn Lewis (Woodland, Calif.), Larry and Judy Allen (Texas), Lonnie (Butch) and Patsy Allen (Augusta), Ken and Susan Allen (Missoula); numerous cousins, grandmothers: Joann Huebsch and Mary Allen, Augusta, and her beloved fiancé Brian Magee and his family, Terry and Lou Magee, Terry and Debi Magee, Christine and Brad Roth, and nephews Jacob and Braeden Roth, all of Pittsburgh, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers — Frank Holland, Albert Huebsch, and Lonnie Allen.
