Courtney Acacia Allen, 18, of Tuscarawas, died Monday, February 5, 2007 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Wayne County. A daughter of Bruce and Debbie (Yaggi), Courtney was born September 27, 1988 in Union Hospital at Dover. She graduated with honors in 2006 from Indian Valley High School. During her years at Indian Valley, she was active in numerous activities such as the National Honor Society, Choir, Pep Club, the Drama Club and she also served as a teacher's assistant. Courtney was currently enrolled at the Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute at Wooster where she was studying Environmental Resource Science. Courtney was employed by Cleaning Extraordinaire at New Philadelphia as well as Mr. Trailer at New Philadelphia. She was also a volunteer at the Latin American Community Center at Dover. She was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts, who made Courtney very proud after winning Super Bowl XLI this past Sunday. She had a love for the outdoors. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers and mud bogging with her friends. Her friends will remember her playful attitude from the evenings they spent together playing a game she created called "Opossum Kicking". Courtney had a passion for writing. She wasn't known as the most talkative individual, but she had a gift of being able to put her thoughts into writings that meant so much to others. The writings left behind by Courtney will be cherished by her family and friends throughout their lifetimes. She also had a love of taking photographs which usually were of beautiful sunsets. She is survived by her loving parents, Bruce and Debbie Allen of Tuscarawas; her eleven year old sister, Chase and her six year old sister Kennedy; maternal grandparents, Walter and Nancy Yaggi of New Philadelphia; paternal grandmother and her husband, Diane and Larry Bouska of Piedmont; uncles, Leroy Yaggi of New Philadelphia and Steve Allen of New Philadelphia; aunts, Tracy (Terry) Stine of Freeport, Pat (Don) Huprich of Dover and Sue Allen of Port Washington; a special aunt, Jane Newland of Dover and numerous extended family members and dear close friends. Courtney was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Richard Allen and a faithful companion, her cocker spaniel, Cookie. Family and friends may call in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday, February 9, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Courtney's life will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2007 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel at 11 a.m. with Pastor Scot Caley officiating. Burial will follow in Jerusalem Church Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Hospitality Room of the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.
