Ashlee "Ice" Adams was an 18 year old freshman at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia. She was a standout on the softball team where she started in 33 games and finished the season with a .343 batting average and 19 RBI's. She was the first freshman to receive the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Award. She was a 2002 graduate of James Wood High School in Winchester, Virginia. There, she was a three-sport athlete, excelling in softball, basketball, and volleyball. She set the school's single-season records in batting average, hits, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. She won the 2002 Winchester Star Softball Player of the Year Award. On May 12, 2003, she had just finished her freshman year and was on her way home for the summer when she died tragically in an automobile accident.
