France Mary Vincent was born on Malta, where her father served in the Royal Army. On the 3rd of January in 1882, Charles and his Army Regiment was sent to East India to serve for one year.

While traveling on board the RMS Crocodyle, both Charles and his young daughter came down with a fever. Unfortunately, Frances did not survive. She was buried at sea and her death reported upon arrival in India.
