This story below is a message from Michael's Rugby Coach that he share 10 years after Michael's passing.
Never Forgotten:
I had hope to make a trip to Georgetown, Idaho yesterday but had some car problems, mainly forgot to register my car, next weekend. For many of you who don't know, that was the day that our brother in love Michael Sims passed a way. Each year some of us go and visit his grave site/family and toast a shot of Jack Daniels with him. YES, he was a Jack Daniel's man. Those who knew him will never ever forget his great love for people, family, and rugby. He had a smile that told you he ate the canary and at the same time it added more brightness to heaven. As many do know the ISU Rugby slogan comes in honor of Michael, HONOR-HEART-TEAM because that is the type of person he signified. There is never a day that goes by that I do not think of Michael, each night he is in my prayers along with his family. As a coach it was the worse day of my life, as with everyone who goes through something like this I asked God why Michael and not me. I would have willingly taken his place. There are no answers and I will forever continue to ask the question, why. Michael was a tremendous human being always willing to help others no matter who they were. His heart was a big as the as the open sky and he would give it to you if you asked. It was also one of the finest hours I have ever seen from an ISU Rugby team men and women who came together with love for Michael and found love for each other. It was these people, who through their courage and devotion, that the ISU rugby program grew strong and is still here today. They are the reason I made it through it. There were some mysterious events that took place during this time, I can never express what I saw in that team, it truly went beyond my ability to truly comprehend. There was also the fear that if we faltered Michael might come back and visit us and it would not be a nice visit. He would simply say "get the sand out." It is always sad when you lose a friend. It does not happen in rugby very often but when it does it really hurts more when you have been on the field of battle together.

I would like all rugby players who read this message to take a moment of silence in honor of Michael and his family. For me, it was truly an honor to have known him for the man and athlete that he was. Whenever I think of some of the moments I shared with him I have to smile.

So to you my brother, my friend, my teacher thank you.
We will always love you for teaching us what a human being is all about.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
A million times we have needed you.
A million times we have cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
In life we loved you dearly.
In death we love you still.
Within our hearts, you hold a place,
No one else can ever fill.
It breaks our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God took you home.

A PRAYER FROM A MOTHER
Please take my child
Wrap him in your arms
Keep him close to you
Away from all harm.
I can't do this
For My son any more
My heart is breaking
My mind is sore
Enjoy his laughter
Enjoy his smile
Sit down and get ready God
His questions take awhile
Teach him everything
He needs to know
Help my son
Continue to grow.
Hes a busy boy
I hope theres plenty of room
Get Ready God
For this flower to bloom
You'll have your hands full
But I know you'll be proud
I hope Heaven's not quiet
Cuz he likes things loud
Oh and don't be alarmed
If your clouds start rolling
It's only my son
he's GOT to keep bowling.
If by chance you can't find him
And a lake is near by
He'll be there with his Grandpa
learning to fish with a fly
Watch out where there are puppies
You might as well rest on a log
For nothing will keep Micheal
From spending time with a dog
If he's still running crazy
And you need him right away
Just turn queitly
And go get Grandma May
If it's alright
Just once on awhile
Could he send me a butterfly
To make me smile
Could His brother and sister
Feel him slip past their cheek
So when they are sad
They wont feel so weak
When his dad is out driving
With thoughts of his boy
Could he sit by his side
And feel him with joy
I know that he's up there
With so much to do
But God
We still want to shre him with you

TO THOSE I LOVE AND THOSE WHO LOVE ME

When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love. You can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
Thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now it's time I traveled on alone.
So grieve a while for me if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on,
So if you need me, call my name and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me I'll be near-
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
All of my love around you soft and clear.
And, then, when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile, and
"Welcome Home."

REST OUR DEAR COUSIN
Even though you are gone away,
Your love will always be here to stay.
You touched our hearts with so many things.
God knew you were the one to save,
He took you home to get some rest,
Even though we loved you best.
Our hearts are filled with so much pain,
God loved you more, there was no shame.
At this time we must let go.
Your memories we will keep a flow.
Rest our dear cousin with peace of mind,
Your memories will live on through.
Rest In Peace,
Tracy and the rest of your cousins
