Born May 15, 1972, in Salt Lake City, to Ronald M. and Sandra L. Stan-field. Married Charissa de las Casas Nov. 17, 2001, in Salt Lake City.
Throughout John's three-year battle with Leukemia, he found great comfort in the teachings of the Dalai Lama, (particularly in his book, The Art of Happiness) and had the privilege of meeting him personally when he was in Salt Lake. He enjoyed all outdoor activities, but especially hot air ballooning, boating, and water-skiing.
John's life was made complete when he married Charissa; they turned their short time together into a life time of happiness. He touched the lives of all who knew him, particularly others diagnosed with Leukemia, with whom he had a special bond.
He is survived by his wife; mother, Sandra Malley; father, Ron Stanfield; stepmother, Judy Stanfield; sister, Mrs. Eric (Kim) Povilus; brothers, Brad, Scott, Stephen Stanfield, all of Salt Lake City; and grandmothers, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Berg, Salt Lake City, Mrs. Stanley (Lois) Johnson, Scottdale, AZ.
Services will be Tues. Dec 11, 2001, 11 a.m., Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300 S, where friends may visit Mon. 6-8 p.m. and Tues. one hour prior to services. Interment, Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff of the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the University Hospital.
