SHRVEPORT, LA - Lawrence Bernard Voss Jr., died at Willis-Knighton South Hospital on Sunday November 19th, 2006 after a sudden illness. Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 22nd from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral services will begin immediately following visitation. Officiating will be Monsignor Earl V. Provenza, V.F. of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park on Mansfield Road.

Larry was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Shreveport for 75 years. He was a graduate of Byrd High School (1943), and Centenary College where he was a Centenary Gentleman, and a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He studied optometry and graduated from Southern College of Optometry (1952) in Memphis, TN, and began his practice at Southern Optical with his father the late Dr. L. B. Voss, Sr. in 1952. He served one year in the US Army, and was a member of the American Legion Post 14. He shared his love of golf, fishing, and talents of painting and music with family and friends, and was a published poet.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, L.B. Voss Sr. of Lutcher, LA, and Ernestine Brandt of New Orleans, LA.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Voss of Shreveport; his sister, Alyx Voss Of Shreveport; his children: Linda Voss Savell and her husband, Billy Savell of Shreveport, Robert Lawrence Voss and his wife, Jeannine Hoelsken of Broomfield, CO and their children, Austin, Carson, Tanner, and Tristan; Dr. John Voss and his wife, Dr. Kendra Voss of Greer, SC and their children, Kyle and Brent; Marla Voss Shaw and her husband, Van Shaw of Dallas, Texas and their children, Whit and Max; and Melody Voss Suess and her husband, Tim Suess of Tulsa, Oklahoma and their child, John (Jack) Riley.

The family would like to express their grateful thanks and appreciation to the doctors and staff of Willis-Knighton South ICU for their care and compassion, and to the Optometric community of Shreveport for their concern.
