MRS. SARAH FESSENGEN PASSED AWAY YESTERDAY AFTER A SHORT ILLNESS.
Liberty, Ill., Oct. 2. -- Mrs. Sarah Fessengen, one of the oldest residents of this place, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Katherine Fischer, after a short illness. Mrs. Fessengen was the daughter of William Lierle, one of the earliest settlers of this township. She was born on Oct. 28, 1816, and until three days ago had been able to assist in the housework and had enjoyed remarkable health. Her husband died a number of years ago and a daughter, Mrs. Lucy Miller, died about three years ago. Mrs. Fischer is the only member of the immediate family surviving. Two sisters, Mrs. Kate Boren, of Clayton, and Mrs. Wells, of Liberty, and two brothers, Arthur [Anderson] Lierle, of Dodge City Kan., and Martin Lierle, of Camp Point; and Richard Lierle of Whitewater, Kan., and William Lierle of Liberty, are half-brothers; two grandsons, Nathan Fischer of Liberty and Fred Miller of Galesburg, and six great granchildren also survive.
The deceased was a member of the German Baptist church and was known by almost every one in the community.
