John E. Avers, age 79, of Clay Township, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2007 in St. John River District Hospital, East China Township.
John was born November 29, 1928 in Pearl Beach, the son of the late Millard "Todd" and Gertrude (Brower) Avers.
On June 1, 1998, he married Suzanne Ricker in Angola, Indiana. John worked for D.T.E. St. Clair Plant He retired in April of 1991. He formerly worked for the Chris Craft Co. in Algonac and he served in the U.S. Army.
John is survived by his wife, Suzanne Rickel Cunningham Avers; his daughters, Laura McClain of El Cajon, CA, Linda Dixon of Vista, CA, Jackie (Rob) Murphy of Poway, CA, Dawn (Jim) Bennett of Dexter, MO; stepdaughter, Terri Cunningham of Wolverine, MI; sister, Sally Kade of Marine City; brother, Millard (Marion) of Marine City; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Mary Kaminski of Farmington, Jean Rickel of New Baltimore, Herman (Nancy) Hageman of Anchorville and Thomas (Fran) Rickel of Chesterfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements by the (Christie) Duncan-Olszewski Funeral Home, New Haven, MI.
