Isaac was probably born in Tompkins Co., NY, where his parents and siblings migrated about 1826 from Sussex Co., NJ. He was the second child born there, with his brothers John and William having been born in NJ, and sister Margaret b. in NY.

Isaac married 1st, Sally/Tilly Waite (Prisilla on some records) on 20 March, 1854, in Lorain Co., OH, where their first two children were born (William and Nellie). By 1857, they were living in Famington Twp., Waupaca Co., WI, where sons Francis and Henry were born. By 1862, they had finally settled in Medina, WI, where a daughter Jane was born, but died a year later. Two more children were born in Medina - Estella and E. W "Eddy".

Sally died in 1896, and Isaac remarried, in May 1897, to Harriet (Blessing) Young, widow of his older brother John Henry Young. Harriet died in 1902 and is buried with her first husband in Medina. Isaac then lived with his son Henry in nearby Cicero. Isaac was last found there in the 1910 census, age 82. A death record has yet to be found for him.
