George Kinkel, son of George & Wilhelmina Feisel Kinkel. He was born in Battenburg, Hesse, and immigrated to the United States on the Furst Bismarck, arriving in New York on 18 Aug 1893, and became a naturalized citizen in 1898. He was age 16 on his arrival and was accompanied by his older brother William, who had established his own business in Denver years earlier.

In March 1903, he married Alice Dorcas Robinson in Ft. Morgan CO, where their first two children were born. By 1908, George was a butcher in Littleton CO, working with his brother Charles. Two more sons were born in Littleton. On the death of his brother Henry in 1904, George took in Henry's orphaned daughter, Edna, and raised her as his own.

George served Littleton in many ways, in addition to being the local butcher. He was the water commissioner, served as a volunteer fireman, and was sheriff. As sheriff, he was in charge of security for President Taft during his visit to Littleton in October 1911.
