Gordon William Clancy, 82, a resident and native of Barstow, died Feb. 1, 2003. "Corky," as he was known to family and friends, was born on Jan. 2, 1921 to William Michael and Louise Gerber Clancy in Barstow. He was postmaster and served with the postal service for 36 years. Corky was a member of the Barstow Kiwanis Club since 1946, Barstow Chamber of Commerce, and Barstow Elks. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He loved golf, horse racing, and the company of his friends and family. Survivors include his son, Pat Clancy and his wife Lisa of Durango, Colo; daughter Maureen Williams and her husband John of Crestline, and four grandchildren: Nate, Lucas, Matthew, and Katrina. Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Mead Mortuary, 36930 Irwin Road. Funeral service will be Friday, Feb. 7, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Mead Mortuary Chapel, 36930 Irwin Road. Graveside service will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Road. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Gordon Clancy Fund, Barstow Retirement Plaza, 501 W. Buena Vista in care of Maria Felix.
