-- ROCK HILL - Mrs. Bessie Mae White Brown of 219 Miller St. died Friday, April 8, 2005, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthew AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Anthony Johnson officiating and the Revs. Horace White and J. Thomas Barber assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Moriah White and Will Frazier. She was a member of St. Matthew AME Zion Church, where she served on the Missionary Society, Senior Musical Choir and Usher Board. She was a class leader and "mother" of the church. She attended York County schools. She was employed at Winthrop University. She was the widow of Ezekiel Brown Jr.

Surviving are her son, David L. Brown and his wife, Betty, of Rock Hill, who were her caretakers; her adopted son, Benjamin Brown of Lake Wylie; her adopted daughter, Pearline Barber of Rock Hill; her granddaughter whom she reared, Marty Davidson of Plano, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Benjamin Brown, and her daughter, Janie Mae Davidson.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.
