The native of Emporia, Kan., was graduated from the Kansas Slate Teachers College, Emporia, and received his master's degree from Stanford University. He did graduate work at Chicago University and Wichita State University. Bonwell taught and coached at Hartford, Kan., for four years and was superintendent there one year. He entered the Wichita Public Schools as mathematics teacher at Hamilton Junior High School, served eight years as principal at Wichita's Park and Waco Elementary Schools, six years as principal at Robinson Junior High School and 11 years as principal at Hamilton Junior High School. When Curtis Junior High school opened in 1953, he was named principal. He will retire at the end of the present school year completing his 15th year. (Wichita Eagle, April 21, 1968)
