He was born July 5, 1917, in Riverdale, Kan., to Frank and Bessie Siler Gaskill. He married Edna Braden on Aug. 30, 1936, in Eugene. She died Dec. 20, 2002.
He served in the Navy as a third class petty officer aboard the USS Lamson in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He worked for the Rubenstein family business in various capacities for 60 years, retiring as a contract administrator. He wrote short stories and poetry.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Elliott of Warrenton and Portland; two brothers, Leon and Leo, both of Eugene; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Private entombment will be in Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. Arrangements by Rest-Haven Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
