OCCUPATION Homemaker & Retired from Hissom Memorial
MARRIED Feb. 1945 in Dallas, TX.
PREDECEASED BY
PARENTS, HUSBAND, Charles in 1982,
ONE SISTER & TWO BROTHERS
Hazel was born October 21, 1928, in Binger, Oklahoma. In that year, as she would tell us, Calvin Coolidge was President and Mickey Mouse was created.
She was the daughter of Oscar and Mary Jenkins, and one of six kids in the family. On February 10, 1945 she married Army veteran Charles Henry Beaird of Brownwood, Texas. They were united for 37 years until Charles’ passing in 1982. Hazel and Charles had two sons and they raised their family in both Texas and Oklahoma.
Hazel is survived by her two brothers and wives, her sister-in-law, as well as both sons and their wives, three grandsons and their wives, and seven great-grandchildren.
Family meant everything to Hazel. She loved to tell stories about growing up with a big family in the Great Depression with her brothers and sister, and especially with her Mama and beloved Papa. She recalled vividly the day Pearl Harbor was bombed, and when JFK was assassinated. Mema loved to sing, dance and paint, was a fabulous cook, and always kept a very tidy house. She loved animals and usually had a pet or two, including Benji the dog and Bennie the cat. She loved to laugh, and sometimes cry, and what you saw with Hazel was always honest and real emotion. Most of all, Hazel truly thrived on being around those she loved. She will be missed so very, very much, and never forgotten.
