Son of Thomas and Harriet Mims Brunson. Second husband of Ann Elizabeth Cartledge Brunson. Uncle (and then step-father) to Eulalia May Brunson Howard.

William served in Co. B, 15th Regimental Cavalry, C.S.A. He enlisted on 4/1/1862 in Florida. The company unit name was the "Marianna Dragoons".

BRUNSON - W. M. Brunson (Uncle Will as he was called), died Friday morning and was buried Saturday morning. Rev. J. D. Bradley of the Baptist church officiating at the grave, assisted by Rev. L. P. Lathram of the Methodist church. Uncle Will was one of the oldest citizens of Luverne and was a member of the Baptist church. He was confined to his bed only a few days before his death. Died in Luverne. (The Luverne Journal - September 19, 1918)
