Cherokee Indian. Civil War (Union) veteran, 6th Kans. Cav. Husband of Catherine Indiana England Goddard, father of Mary F. and William P. Goddard. Joined Co. G of the Kansas Early Volunteers along with his brother, serving under Robert Henderson, in Sept. 1862 and served until the end of the war. Murdered, reputedly by cattle rustlers afraid he'd tell on them. He was shot down on the road in front of his house and family. There was no trial. His wife remarried to Fleming Wasson and ran the Hotel Wasson in Welch, Oklahoma until she died and son Billy and his wife carried it on. Larkin's parents and older siblings walked on the Trail of Tears, but he was born in the Cherokee Nation west.
