The Sonoma County, California, native was born Nov. 20, 1945, to the late Kenneth and Virginia Forney.
He worked for the Department of Interior U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as an environmental specialist.
He served in the U.S. Army and received the Purple Heart Medal, the Bronze Star Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal while serving in Korean and Vietnam wars. Mr. Forney also belonged to the American Legion, the VFW and the Masonic Lodge.
There will be a memorial service from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Southside Baptist Church on Memphis Junction Road in Bowling Green. J.C. Kirby and Son Funeral Home, Broadway Avenue chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandy Bray, Kristie Fowler (Jason) and Dawn Durbin (Kevin), all of Bowling Green; a son, Hans Forney (Shanie) of Petaluma, Calif.; six grandchildren, Maj. Jason Bray (Laura), Jeremy Bray (Amber), Stephen Bray (Sophy), Dalton and Dallas Fowler and Kellie Durbin; five great-grandchildren, Susan and Sarah Bray, Mallory Bray and Joshua and Maggie Fowler, all of Bowling Green; a brother, Butch Pendleton, and a sister, Sandie Galindo, both of Petaluma; and longtime friend, Larry Cotton (Deb) of Bowling Green.
