Cpl. U.S. Marines Corps, Vietnam War-Cpl. Byrnes was killed in action by small arms fire on 5-18-1968 while serving as a Rifleman {0311} with Co. L of the 3rd Battalion of the 4th Marine Regiment of the 3rd Marine Division. Cpl. Byrnes started his tour of Vietnam on July 17, 1967.
He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. leslie G. Byrnes of Addison Street in Chicago, Illinois.
