Staff Sgt. Scott E. Dickinson, 29, of San Diego, Calif., died Aug. 10 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
DICKINSON, SCOTT EDWARD Feb. 25, 1983 to August 10, 2012 Scott Edward Dickinson, age 29, passed away Friday evening, August 10, 2012, after being shot in the line of duty in Afghanistan. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2001, after graduating from Horizon High School, and was making it his career. He had achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and received many awards. He is mourned by his wife of three years, Alicia Barnes Dickinson; his parents, John and Pauline Dickinson; his sisters, Tami Mould and Amanda McAfee; his brother, Gregory Dickinson; and six nephews and nieces. Burial will be with honors in Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at College Avenue Baptist Church, 4747 College Ave., at 2:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
