-- Mrs. Harris, 93, of Charlotte, NC, died on June 1, 2011 at Westminster Nursing Center, Rock Hill, SC. She was born on December 17, 1917 in Charlotte, daughter of the late Rudolph Clement and Mabel Link Millaway. Mrs. Harris graduated from Central High School in 1935. She met her future husband, Charles Harris, in early 1942 and after he returned from Europe they were married on June 8, 1945. Together they owned and operated Harris Office Supply & Equipment for 30 years until her retirement. She was a charter member of Grace United Methodist Church and served on many committees and was a UMW Circle member. Mrs. Harris was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Chapter 10. She and Charles were strong supporters of the D.A.V. working tirelessly as advocates for veterans' rights. Mrs. Harris enjoyed traveling with her family, entertaining friends and especially the patients at the V.A. Hospital in Salisbury. She will be remembered for her caring nature and her gracious smile. Mrs. Harris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death one son, John L. Harris and a brother, Henry F. Millaway. Mrs. Harris is survived by three sons, Charles M. Harris, Jr. and his wife, Karen of Oak Island, NC, Peter M. Harris of Indian Land, SC and Thomas E. Harris and his wife, Pamela of Charlotte; grandson, Phillip Harris; granddaughter, Lauren Harris; and grandchildren, Michelle Mazzola, Dawn Scott, Thomas Belt and Caleb Haney; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Grace United Methodist Church, 737 East Woodlawn Rd., Charlotte, NC 28209 with Reverend Ron Perry and Reverend Britt Hadley, officiating. Interment will follow in Crown Memorial Park, Pineville, NC. The family will receive friends Friday evening, June 3, 2011 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 737 East Woodlawn Rd., Charlotte, NC 28209; or the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
