-- Katherine Schneider Cheyne Mrs. Cheyne, age 90, of Charlotte, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Mecklenburg Healthcare Center in Charlotte. She was born June 18, 1919, in Birmingham, Alabama, and was the daughter of the late Robert and Annie Schneider. She was employed at Central Piedmont Community College for many years. She also worked at Southern Bell and for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. Katherine will be remembered as a wonderful wife and homemaker and a devoted mother and grandmother, with a keen sense of humor. Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Hobart B. Cheyne; her son, Randell B. Cheyne; her daughter, Mrs. Cheryl Cheyne Lamb; her son-in-law, Robin Lamb; as well as three grandchildren, Meredith Lamb, Katherine Lamb, both of Charlotte, N.C. and Hutcheson Cheyne of Chico, TX. The family would like to thank the residents and staff of the Regency Retirement Center, the doctors and staff at CMC Pineville and the Mecklenburg Healthcare Facility for their love, care, and support. The family will receive friends at McEwen Pineville Chapel one hour prior to the funeral service. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 9, 2009, at McEwen Pineville Chapel. Interment will follow at Crown Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 East 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204, or the Humane Society of Charlotte, 2700 Toomey Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28203.
