-- CHESTER -- The funeral for Ms. Mary Lorene Black of 644 Columbia Road was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Clay Waldrip officiated and burial followed in Chester Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Black, 92, died Friday, March 7, 2008, at Chester Regional Nursing Center.

A daughter of the late James Pressley and Annie Cameron Black, Ms. Black attended the schools of Chester County and was retired from Springs Industries. She became a member of First Baptist Church in 1926 and served as a primary Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews, including Cathy Baker Blackburn and Jane Baker Dover of Chester and Lisa Baker Grier of Spartanburg, who were her caregivers in her latter years; and several great- and great-great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 518, Chester.

Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, was in charge of arrangements.
