Mrs. Mary Stewart Bollinger, 81

CHESTER - The funeral for Mrs. Mary Violet Stewart Bollinger was conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21 at Cauthen Funeral Home's Lancaster Chapel. The Rev. Curtis Cameron officiated and burial followed in Chester Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Bollinger, 81, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at White Oak Manor in Charleston.

Born in Great Falls on March 18, 1923, she was a daughter of the late A.J. and LuMay Jacobs Stewart. A graduate of Chester High School, Mrs. Bollinger also graduated from Coronet Modeling School and had a professional portfolio including newspaper and magazine prints as well as original television ads for Burger King Corp. She represented the City of Miami in the Mrs. Florida Pageant in 1953 being named first runner-up and Mrs. Congeniality. In 1954, Mrs. Bollinger started the Charmette Modeling Academy and later opened two other schools. The academy is celebrating its golden anniversary this year, the current owner was taught and mentored by Mrs. Bollinger. In 1989, Mrs. Bollinger returned to Chalet des Fleurs in Pawleys Island, where she enjoyed her flower gardens and bird watching.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy McGuirt and her husband, Jim, of Houston, Texas and Jeanne Walker of Myrtle Beach; a brother, Fred O. Stewart Sr. of Chester; two sisters, Daisy Cole of Melbourne, Fla. and Joyce Luker of Lineville, Ala.; and two grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Paul M.F. Walker; and her second husband, Frank V. Bollinger.
