-- ROCK HILL - Etta McCarter Randall was born on Aug. 19, 1924, in York, S.C., to William Jackson McCarter and Etta Melton McCarter and passed away Aug. 20, 2010, at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, S.C.

Mrs. Randall was a graduate of Winthrop Training School and Winthrop College Class or 1945.

Mrs. Randall was employed for several years after graduating as secretary to John A. Black, president of the Rock Hill National Bank.

She was married to Robert Donald Randall and became active in the Rock Hill Community. She was a member of the Rock Hill Woman's Club, served as a Pink Lady and past president of the Pink Ladies Assoc. for over 50 years, was a member of the Pendarian Club, several bridge clubs, and was a member of Saint John's United Methodist Church for over 60 years.

Mrs. Randall was predeceased by her husband, Robert Donald Randall; her sons, Michael (Mike) Russell Randall and David Richard (Rick) Randall; her brothers, Colonel Elmer McCarter, Haskell (Bud) McCarter, Yandell (Yank) McCarter and Harley McCarter; and sisters, Columbus Hall McCarter and Elsie Angeline McCarter.

She is survived by her brother, Deva McCarter of Florence, S.C., and a sister, Eula McCarter Jones, of Cleveland, Tenn. She is also survived by her sons, Dr. Robert Donald Randall Jr. of Rock Hill and Patrick Ray Randall of Fort Mill; her daughter, Jane Maxine Randall of McConnells; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Dr. Alta Kingman of Powdersville, S.C., Anne Ridgeway of Rock Hill, S.C., and Martha McCarter of Pickens, S.C.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Forest Hills Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at Saint John's United Methodist Church in Rock Hill. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service and other times at the home, 5750 McConnells Hwy., McConnells, S.C.

Memorials may be made to The City of Rock Hill, Mike Randan Field or Saint John's United Methodist Church Preschool Fund.
