-- ROCK HILL Mrs. Catherine Fielding Lewis Long, 83, of Rock Hill, S.C., died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held 2:45 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with Dr. Marshall Fant officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Born in Asheville, N.C., Mrs. Long was the daughter of the late Alexander Kennedy Lewis and Irene Erwin Lewis. She moved to Greenville, S.C., when she was four and was a graduate of Greenville High School and Furman University. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and taught third grade at Clover and Easley public schools.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Charles Watson Long Sr.; sons, Charles Watson Long Jr. and wife, Gail of Charleston, S.C., Lewis Erwin Long and wife, Julie of Rock Hill; daughters, Mary Catharine Long White of Rock Hill and Rachel Long Walker and husband, Mark of Rock Hill; six granddaughters, Heather, Hayley, Corey, Ivy, Charlie Rose and Maggie; grandsons, Daniel Kersbergen and wife, Ashley and Brandon Kersbergen and wife, Kari; great-granddaughter, Lorelei Knight; and brother, Overton Alexander Lewis of Prattville, Ala.
