Barbara Joy Carroll, 76, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, August 20, 2011. She was born in San Diego, CA on August 21, 1934, to Edmond and Pauline Martin. She married Jack Carroll in Yuma, AZ on November 26, 1955. In 1966, she and her family moved to the Wenatchee Valley. She worked at Cedergreen's and Stan's Merry Mart, and later she was a Realtor from 1977, retiring in 1996. She was the Treasurer of the Women's Realtor Association and a member of the Wenatchee Board of Realtors. She was chairperson of the Special Events Committee, where she organized the annual golf tournament and awards banquet and the annual blood drive. In 1986, she received the Realtor Achievement Award from the Wenatchee Board of Realtors. She had been a member of Holy Apostles Church for many years, where she taught Catechism classes. She was a very active member in her church, YLI group. She helped to organize and chaired many fundraising events for youths and ministries. She loved baking and cooking for her church and her family. She baked many dozens of cookies for her church fundraisers and made many delicious soups, which she delivered to friends and church members if they were ill. She always remembered her family and friends' birthdays or special events with a card. She was the most wonderful and kind person and the love in her heart was overflowing. Her grandchildren were the love of her heart and the joys of her life. She attended every sports game, dance recital, concert and school events, birthday parties and holidays.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Jack; her children, Kathleen Carroll of East Wenatchee, Susan (Ken) Weaver of Cashmere and Denny Carroll of East Wenatchee; her grandchildren, Brandon (Stephanie) Hevly of Honolulu, HI, Melissa Hevly of Renton, WA, Kari (Seth) Weaver of Wenatchee, James Weaver of Cashmere and Devin Carroll of Wenatchee; one great-granddaughter, Gracie Mullins of Wenatchee; her sister, Elizabeth (Ron) Rowe of San Diego, CA; her brother, Robert (Luana) Martin of Rock Island; her niece, Kristin (BJ) Valdez and great niece, Leyla Valdez, all of Omak; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and relatives who loved her. She was preceded in death by her mother; father; two brothers; and one sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday, August 26, 2011, at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in East Wenatchee with Interment following at Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011, from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home in Wenatchee. Memorial contributions may be made to The Young Ladies' Institute at Holy Apostles Church or Central Washington Hospital Hospice.
