US Congressman. He engaged in newspaper work as reporter, criminal investigator for the Detroit Journal and the Detroit News, (1898-1905). Plus, he was secretary of the police department of the City of Detroit (1905-08) and city clerk, (1908-12). In 1915, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth, Sixty-fifth and Sixty-sixth Congresses and served until his death at age 43.
