US Congressman. Elected to represent Michigan's 8th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1953 to 1961. He was defeated in 1962 as Republican. Also served as a Republican Candidate for United States Senator from Michigan in 1960, Delegate to the Michigan State Constitutional Convention from 15th Senatorial District from 1961 to 1962, and Republican Candidate for Michigan State Board of Education. He was wounded in an attack by Puerto Rican Nationalists on the floor of the House of Representatives on March 1, 1954, and died on April 10. 1969.
