KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Edith Gibbons Parker, 83, of Country Time Rest Home, formerly of Gastonia, died Dec. 28, 1991, at Kings Mountain Hospital. Funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at Gaston Memorial Park, with the Rev. Clyde Collins officiating. Visitation is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia.
Mrs. Parker, a retired employee of the payroll department at Ti-Caro Inc., was born in Gastonia, daughter of the late Burke and Lottie Utley Parker. She was a graduate of Duke University and a member of Phi Beta Kappa national honor society. She formerly taught at Dallas and Hunter Huss high schools, and coached basketball at Dallas High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, former director of the American Red Cross in Gastonia, and was voted Woman of the Year by the Gaston Civitan Club.
Survivors are her husband, George Parker; sister, Mrs. Lillian Thurston of Gastonia.
The family will be at the home of Lillian Thurston, 1102 Fairfield Dr., Gastonia.
