CHARLOTTE — Clyde Evert Dellinger, 91, formerly of Gastonia, died Dec. 8, 2007 at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia.

He was born Nov. 8, 1916, the son of the late Zeb Vance and Pearl Canipe Dellinger.

FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Tuesday, West Franklin Baptist Church, Gastonia

INTERMENT: Gaston Memorial Park

VISITATION: 7-9 tonight, Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia

Mr. Dellinger was a high scool graduate. He worked in textiles, operating different machinery at Mays Mill and Burlington Industries in Cramerton and Gastonia. He was a Charter member of West Franklin Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and Training Union for 27 years. He was an Ordained Deacon. He accepted Jesus Christ at age 16. He loved God, his family and his church.

He married Lucy Broome Dellinger on August 4, 1939. They were blessed with two sets of twins.

The family would like to thank Dr. Henry Thomason, Dr. Murphy and Gaston Memorial Hospital for the care of Mr. Dellinger.

SURVIVORS: He leaves to Cherish his memories son, J. Boyce Dellinger and wife Doris Goble, Charlotte, three daughters, Joyce Dellinger Harkey and husband Frank, Gastonia, Brenda Dellinger Hollifield and husband James T., Orlando, Fla, Glenda Dellinger Purkey, Gastonia, sister-in-laws Viola Dellinger, Gastonia, Dorothy Dellinger,Charlotte, brother-in-law Raymond Broome, Cramerton, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: Parents, wife Lucy Marie Broome Dellinger brothers Floyd and wife Daphne, Howard, Ernest and wife Macie and Hazel, grandson Timothy Hollifield
