Leonard "Moose" Shelton, 79, of Cedar Creek Road, Greeneville, passed away Sunday evening at his home.

He was a rural mail carrier for 35 years with the Greeneville Post Office and was also an employee of the ASCS office.

Mr. Shelton was a member of Cedar Creek Church of God.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Greenland.

He loved golfing and farming and was a devoted husband.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years: Berta Vee Shelton; four sons and daughters-in-law: Gary and Debbie Shelton, Jim and Tonya Shelton, Robert and Debi Shelton, and Tim and Barbara Shelton, all of Greeneville; a daughter and son-in-law: Beverly and Terry Reaves of Greeneville; his grandchildren and spouses: Matt and Tamara Shelton, Luke and Jessi Shelton, Jimmy Glen Shelton and fiancée, Saundra, Regan and Martijn Kleinendorst, Kelly Shelton, Leslie Shelton, Anthony and Jennifer Reaves, Craig Reaves, and Kasey and E.J. Swatzell; his great-grandchildren: Keira Shelton, Judah Shelton, Dani Shelton, Willow Kleinendorst, Allison Reaves, and Whitney Reaves; three sisters and a brother-in-law: Pauline Solomon, Dorothy Hunt, and Flossie and Ken Bowers, all of Greeneville; his sisters-in-law: Emma Dean Shelton of Greeneville and Nancy Taylor of Chicago, Ill.; and his brother-in-law: J.D. Cutshaw of Georgia.

He was the son of the late Robert and Lilly Humphreys Shelton and was preceded in death by two infant brothers; a brother: Dave Shelton; sister: Juanita Grissom; brothers-in-law: Eunice Solomon, Glen Grissom, George Hunt, Raymond Cutshaw, and Harley Cutshaw; and grandchildren: Amanda Shelton and Stacey Shelton.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Darryl Allen, the Rev. Matt Shelton, the Rev. E.J. Swatzell, and Luke Shelton will officiate.

Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to GreeneLawn Memory Gardens for a 10 a.m. committal service.

The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Matt Shelton, Luke Shelton, Jimmy Glen Shelton, Martijn Kleinendorst, Anthony Reaves, Craig Reaves, and E.J. Swatzell.

Honorary pallbearers will be his golf partners, fellow post office workers, the workers at ASCS office, and his special friends: Donald "Duck" Collins, Bill Humphreys, the staff of Caris Hospice, Jan Moore, Diane Underwood, Dr. Dharmen Patel and staff, and Dr. John Boys.
