Stanley F. Kurgan, 78, life resident of LaFayette, died Monday after a long battle with leukemia at Community General Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. Born in the family home on November 22, 1930 in LaFayette, he was the son of the late Michael A. and Frances (Rogala) Kurgan. He was a graduate of LaFayette High School and retired from Carrier Corp. in 1993 after 38 years. He was a member of LaFayette Game Club and CNY Two Cylinder Club. He was an avid hunter, sportsman, SU basketball fan and John Deere collector. He was a good man and a wonderful father and husband. Stanley is survived by his wife of 50 years, Corinne Bertrand Kurgan; daughter, Sharon Kurgan of LaFayette; son, Michael (Kathleen) Kurgan of Syracuse; sisters, Anne Kurgan and Jennie Grabowski both of Syracuse; brother, Michael Kurgan of Syracuse; grandson, Mak; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary O'Donnell, Rose Stahl and Sophie Wojcik; and brothers, William, Walter, John and Edwin Kurgan. Funeral services will be held Friday, 10 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, LaFayette. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours will be Thursday, 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 2584 Field Lane. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to LaFayette Fire Department, Route 11, LaFayette, NY 13084.
