McLane High School

Killed in action, South Vietnam, 1967

"Yesterday, the first round wounded L/Cpl. Show. When Cpl. Ashenbrener saw it, he ran from Gun-5 to Gun-1 to get a stretcher. [The men tried to hold him back but he broke loose.] On his way over, another round landed and he was killed. He never felt it. Our Captain is going to put him up for a "Congressional Medal of Honor" for his bravery and concern for his fellow Marine. It is ironic, but if he hadn't been hit, no one would have even noticed it. Others do it. Recognition always comes too late." He rests among the heroes.

Corporal Aschenbrener is remembered by his Brothers from Echo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 12th Marines...
