Purple Heart
LEWISVILLE - Mr. Joseph Allen Frye, 85 of Lewisville, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born July 4, 1925 in Forsyth County to the late John Wesley and Minnie Josephine Watts Frye. Mr. Frye served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and had received the Purple Heart during the Normandy Invasion. He was a member of Harmony Grove United Methodist Church and had retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. His parents, two brothers, John Wesley Frye, Jr. and Clarence Earley Frye and one sister, Minnie Inez Frye Templeton preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife, Marjorie Jones Frye; three daughters, Brenda Hartman and husband Ronnie of Lexington, Elizabeth Ann Frye of Lewisville and Kathy Taylor and husband Randy of Lewisville; two grandchildren, Jennifer Greenwood and husband Andrew of Penbrook Pines, Fl. and Christopher Taylor of Lewisville; one great-grandson, Winston Greenwood; one brother, Monroe P. Frye and wife Hazel of Lewsiville; one aunt, Martha Spainhour of Winston-Salem and two sister-in-laws, Francis Foltz and husband Archie and Barbara Wilmoth both of Winston-Salem. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church by the Rev. Greg Freeman. Mr. Frye will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Church. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church fellowship hall.
