Son of Charlie William and Florence Yates Sisk, he married Sally Lelia Williard on May 29, 1941.
She preceded him in death as did his brothers, Clyde, Howard, Gilmer, Victor and Eugene and a sister, Era Pegg.

He was a member of Union Cross Moravian Church and a baker by profession, having worked at Holsum Bakers for 45 years. He served on the Forsyth County School Board and was an Assistant Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of America.

He served in the US Army during World War II and received the Good Conduct Medal, American Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
