Russian Cosmonaut, Aerospace engineer. He is known for having participated in the space missions Soyuz 6 (1969), Soyuz 19 (1975), Apollo-Soyuz Test Project/Soyuz 19, Soyuz 36 (1980) as commander of the fifth crew of the space station Saljut 6. Among the several awards received, Kabalov was Twice Hero of the Soviet Union, as well as 3-times awarded with the Order of Lenin. He was also awarded the Gold medal "For Merit in the Development of Science and Humanity".
