The funeral of Capt. Allen took place yesterday from the residence of H. C. Myers, Esq. He was buried at Oak Ridge Cemetery, upon a beautiful eminence, beside others who have died in their country's service. To lie with the patriotic dead of his adopted home was his dying request. A large procession followed his remains to their last resting place, where he was buried under the rites of Free Masonry.

A military escort, among which was Capt. Fuller's company - taken prisoners at the memorable battle of Shiloh - headed the procession, and after the Masonic ceremonies were over three rounds of musketry were fired in honor of the departed soldier. A deep gloom pervades this community in view of the fate of this gallant and efficient young soldier, endeared to it by so many noble qualities and social virtues. It is sad to think of one needlessly cut down in the morning of his manhood, in the midst of his patriotic endeavors to assist in securing to our distracted nation a glorious and last peace.
