Rudolfoi B. Barcon was born in Miami, Arizona on December 20, 1919 to Francisca Bonilla Olivas. He was married and had one daughter, Alicia Barcon Aguirre. He entered the United States Army on July 10, 1941 at Los Angeles, California. He served with Company L of the 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Division, in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations. His military specialty was Rifleman and he qualified for the Combat Infantryman Badge, Rifle MI Sharpshooter, Marksman and Rifle MO3 Marksman. He saw action in the Aleutian Islands where he received a citation for bravery, the Eastern Madates and the Southern Phillipines. His medals include the Asiatic-Pacific with 3 Bronze Battle Stars, the American Defense Service Medal and the Phillipine Liberation Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars.
While serving with the 7th Division he won the Welterweight Boxing Championship of the Division.
He found it ironic that he received all his training in the desert in Needles, California before being sent to the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.
Rudolfo was discharged as a Corporal on August 30, 1945 at Van Nuys, California and passed away in November, 1964, sinced joined by his brother Roberto. He is survived by his sisters Concha Perez of Miami, Elisa Munoz of Stanton, Ca. and Frances Arias of Hesperia, Ca.
