William Lynn Griggs , 72, of Ralph Miller Road, went home to be with his father in heaven on April 3, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, April 6 at Midway United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Dr. J. Barry Lemons. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8pm Tuesday at the Midway UMC Christian Fellowship Center. Lynn was born July 1, 1943 in Forsyth County to John Lyde Griggs and Florence Miller Griggs. He graduated from North Davidson High School and was an active member of Midway United Methodist Church. He worked for 37 years and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He served his church and community in many ways. He loved to farm, give tours and hay rides on his farm to children and adults of all ages. He enjoyed teaching three Sunday school classes for the elderly at his church. Lynn married the love of his life Janet Cobler Griggs on June 18 1966. His brothers, Dale Miller Griggs, and Johnny Lyde Griggs, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Janet Griggs of the home; his sons, Lynn Griggs, Jr. and wife, Winona, of Monticello, Kentucky, and Rocky Griggs and wife, Lori of Winston Salem; his granddaughters, Madison, Taylor, and Meghan; and his twin brother, Glenn Griggs. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Midway UMC Choir Fund, 9795 Old US Highway 52, Lexington, NC 27295-5610 or the Humane Society of Davidson County, PO Box 1791, Lexington NC 27293. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
