Harvey Wade Pettus, Sr. June 1, 1934 - June 20, 2011 Harvey Wade Pettus, Sr., 74, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at his home. He was born June 1, 1934 to the late Louis Henry and Winifred Mabe Pettus. Mr. Pettus was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. He retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. after many years of service. Harvey loved old cars and NASCAR. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis Glenn and William Joseph Pettus. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Jean R. Pettus of the home; two sons, Harvey Wade Pettus, Jr. of Walnut Cove, Kevin S. Pettus and wife, Donna of Kernersville; one daughter, Lisa Pless and husband, Brian of Kernersville; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson and Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
