Annie J. Bennett, 83, died Saturday, March 29, 2008. She was born Jan. 2, 1925, in Stokes County to William Reid and Lottie Bell Murphy Bennett. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman "Dobe" Bennett; a son, Jerry Bennett; a great-granddaughter, Alexis Brooke Shelton; and two brothers, Clyde and Charles Bennett. Surviving are a daughter, Tilda Lindsay and husband Robert; a son, Gregg Bennett and wife Betty; five grandchildren, Kent Bennett, Christy Beckelhimer and husband Jeff, Elizabeth Tuttle and husband Clay, Paul Lindsay, and Matthew Lindsay and wife Gretchen; three great-grandchildren, Samuel Bennett, Austin Bennett, and Taylor Shelton; four sisters, Susie Walley, Shelby Sutton, Kathy Lewellen, and Jennie Smith and husband Mike; three brothers, Lester Bennett and wife Bertie May, David Bennett and Bruce Bennett.
