WINSTON-SALEM - On Monday, December 1, 2008, Mr. Alphonso "Big Al" Capers Sr. passed away after a lengthy illness at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Forsyth County November 8, 1949 to the late Earnest and Eloise Capers. He retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 30 years of service. He is survived by his loving, devoted and loyal wife, Cassandra Epps -Capers; three children, Sabrina Capers, Latrese Capers (Nate Pinckney), and Alphonso Capers Jr.; a loving mother-in-law, Verdell Price; two dedicated and loving sisters, Theresa (Artis) Rucker and Mazie (Jerry) Marlin; two very special people he considered a sister and brother, Eva Evans-Arradondo and husband, James Arradondo; four wonderful grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, Tre' Shawn Capers, JaLyn Bowman-Capers, Taijah Capers and Tyre Capers; four caring nephews, Carlos Rucker, Brian Rucker, Jeremy Marlin, and Jarrett Marlin; friends, Arthur Jones, Alfred Adams, Thomas Woods and a host of loyal and dedicated relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Tobias E. LaGrone officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
