Actor, Television Director. He will be best remembered for his roles in several popular television soap operas during the 1970s and 1980s, most notably as 'Marco Dane,' on "One Life To Live," from 1977 to 1986, 1989 to 1990, and again from 1992 to 1993, and 'Dr. Mario Corelli' on "One Life To Live," in 1978. His character of 'Marco Dane,' arrived in the fictional Llanview as a low-life pimp and pornographer who was only supposed to last for eight days, but his offbeat look, as well as his impassioned performances and electric chemistry with co-star Judith Light (who played 'Karen Wolek,'), made him such a fan favorite that only a few months after producers killed off 'Marco Corelli,' in 1978 they revealed the real victim was Marco Dane's heretofore unknown brother, 'Dr. Mario Corelli.' He was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for the role of 'Marco Dane,' in 1982, and he won for the role of 'Marco Dane,' on "General Hospital," in 1993. He also played the role of 'Rick Madison,' on "Another World," from 1991 to 1992, and 'Richie,' in two episodes of "As The World Turns," in 2003. He was once asked why he had not returned to daytime sooner after playing 'Richie,' in "As The World Turns," in 2003. He said, "no one asked me." He was also a television director for episodes of the television soap opera, "All My Children," in 1970. He was born as Gerald Anthony Bucciarelli one of three children in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Italian immigrants Anthony Bucciarelli and his wife Maria Allega Bucciarelli on July 31, 1951. He was educated locally and later attended and studied acting at the University of Santa Cruz in Santa Cruz, California, the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, and Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Following his education, he pursued an acting career. Besides, "One Life To Live," "Another World," "All My Children," and "As The World Turns," his many other television credits include, "Moonlighting," "MacGyver," "L.A. Law," "Christine Cromwell," "Third Watch," "Jake And The Fatman," "The Cosby Mysteries," "Law & Order," and the recurring role of 'Father Peter Terranova,' in seven episodes of the crime drama, "Wiseguy," which also starred Ken Wahl, Jim Byrnes, and Jonathan Banks, from 1987 to 1989. He made his actual film debut playing the role of 'Geiger,' in the action-adventure film, "The Secret Of The Ice Cave" (1989). The film which was directed by Romanian film director Radu Gabrea and also starred Michael Moriarty, David Mendenhall, and Sally Kellerman, tells the story of a group of treasure-seekers who embark on an expedition into high adventure as they race to discover what's really located in the mysterious ice cave. Besides, "The Secret Of The Ice Cave" (1989), his many other film credits include, "Crackdown" (aka "To Die Standing"), (1991), "The Force" (1994), "Stag" (1997), and his last film, "She Hates Me" (2004). He was married to his "One Life to Live," co-star actress Brynn Thayer from 1981 to 1983. He passed away from an apparent suicide in Butler, New Jersey, on May 28, 2004, at the age of 52, and was buried in Calvary Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His father Anthony who passed away in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on August 3, 2002, at the age of 77, and is buried nearby. His mother Maria survives him at the age of 94.
