Ebenezer Waterman Carver was born December 1, 1804 in Vinalhaven, Knox, Maine to Ebenezer and Abigail (Waterman) Carver. Ebenezer's father died before his birth.
He went by E.W. He married Mary Stinson the daughter James Stinson. E. W. and Mary had four children; Mary Dela (Caver) Sloper, Abigail (Carver) Wells, John Waterman Carver and Asher Carver all of which were born in Maine.
The family traveled on the Erie Canal and settled for a short in Illinois in 1838. The family then moved to Scott County, Iowa. His first wife died in January 19, 1866. On December 13, 1866 to he married Mary (Stimson) Cooper, the widow of Samuel A. Cooper. Mary and Samuel Cooper had three children that I know of; Herbert Emerson, Elbert Henry and Octave H Cooper.
E.W. and his second wife move traveled on the Oregon Trail until the California turn off. He lived in California again for a short time and then moved to Oregon where they lived for the rest of their lives. E. W. and 2nd wife Mary had one child, Ebenezer Waterman Carver Jr. He was born in Oregon. All five of E. W. children were mentioned in his will. Herbert Cooper was the administrator of the will and the guardian of Ebenezer Jr., his half brother.
E,W, had a very active life. When his was a child he remembered seeing the British war ships off shore during the War of 1812. He traveled the Erie Canal and on the Oregon Trail. He had many friends and entertained often.
