Winnie and I became soul mates April 18th, 1998. We married on the Ocean City, Maryland beach Sept. 18th, 1999. We celebrated our anniversary on the 18th of every month. At any given moment Winnie could give you the count of how many months, days and hours we had been together since we met.....and also since we were married.
It was destiny for us to be together thru this journey....we were each others strength, along with the love of our dear lord and savior. Winnie's faith was truly amazing and comforting. We were so blessed that we found this amazing love.....a love that will never fade. I will love my soul mate forever.....til I see you again my love......Schmoopie.

Charles Winston (Winnie) Shock, Sr., 57, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord on Friday, July 24, 2009, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Cancer may have taken his body, but his soul belonged to his Lord. He was the husband of Kathy Anne (Halterman) Shock.
He is also survived by his children, Shawn R. Stauch of Bastrop, Texas, and his family, Stacy Berkheimer of Wellsville and her family, Charles W., Jr. of York and his family, Kathy L. Jackson of Glen Rock and her family, and Christopher Conner of Ocean Pines, Md.; two sisters, Sharon Hollingshead of Bluefield, Va., and Angela Pifer of Dover; seven grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Shock; and his infant twin sisters, Mary Roberta Shock and Frances Eileen Shock, of Baltimore, Md.
Following cremation, a celebration of life for Winston will be held Saturday, August 8, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Community Church of Ocean Pines, Race Track Road, Ocean Pines, Md., officiated by his good friend and pastor, Dr. P. Thomas McKelvey. Interment will be in the Garden of the Pines, Community Church of Ocean Pines.
Winston was born May 21, 1952, in Baltimore, Md. He graduated from Hereford High School in Parkton, Md., in 1970 and attended Miami-Dade Junior College in Miami, Fla. He was a competitive runner who completed six marathon and played adult semi-pro baseball in the Susquuehanna League as well as the American Baseball Association in York County and later in the York County Old-timers Baseball League.
After years of working in the banking industry in North Carolina and Miami, Fla., he worked 11 years for L. Lavetan and Sons, York, in the metal recycling business. He was a supervisor at Rabbit Transit in York, up until his illness in 2001. During his fight with this illness, Winston participated in numerous protocols at John Hopkins that would expand knowledge available for the treatment of cancer.
Winston and Kathy were married on the beach in Ocean City, Md., on September 18, 1999, and later moved to the area in 2002. They moved to Ocean Pines to be close of Kathy's sister, Jeannie, and her husband, Jim Holland. The two couples spent many an evening cooking for each other and taking long walks. Winston often enoyed a fine cigar with his buddy Jim during these walks.
Winston was a member of The Community Church of Ocean Pines where he served on the multi-media ministry workship team, occasionally in the church band, "Psalm 66", and briefly on the Church Council. He spoke often of how he loved his church family and how blessed he was, being allowed to serve his Lord. Winston was a witty mind with a serving heart.
